First leggings, now pantyhose for men!

I was concerned that men's fashions were getting weird when it was claimed that leggings would be the new thing. Now Gerbe in Paris has produced a line of pantyhose for men "due to increasing demand from male clients". Frogsmoke is as disturbed about this as I am.

I am not sure what I would need these for, at least the leggings were proposed as a comfortable substitute for pants or sweatpants. Perhaps the pantyhose or "feel-good knee-high hosiery" are "made to help drain toxins and massage tired limbs".

The new fashion "trends" make it easier and easier for me to ignore them because they stretch the bounds of credibility to irrelevance. I'll be saying this right up to the point that I am wearing these things just because everybody else is doing it.

Leggings for men is not a new trend - one that's been around for years. It's time to get over the body image constraints and go for the comfort. Just wear them. Leggings are perfect casual wear for women AND men. Having worn leggings for years, I'm aware of people's comments both negative and very positive. After all, it’s not the leggings on the man but the man in the leggings. Everyone looks good in leggings and some people look great!
If more people, women and men, wear leggings then it will just be another apparel choice. At one time denim jeans were worn only by miners digging for gold. Now they are everywhere.
So never say never - when you do decide to wear leggings, choose a well made pair - not with cotton fibers that bag out over time but a high tech fiber that retains its shape. Go for the comfort and support. Leggings that go to the ankle look better than capri style that chop the leg. Plus the full length leggings support you from your ankle to your waist and give you an energetic lift. Laugh, Live, Love & Enjoy! Check out www.UnJeans.com

I'm a 23 year old metrosexual male. I personally think leggings are a wonderful concept at that! I think females need to stop whining and feeling akward about men who want to wear leggings! "Gender is nothing more than a physical construct." It has nothing to do with what sex they are. Both men and women can and do actually percieve the world in similar ways. A man doesn't always like to wear heavy, thick and dark apparel. We too enjoy the luxuries of lfe like silk and nylon. Clearly a man that is well built and assertive like most men, but perhaps is better groomed and enjoys wearing leggings doesn't mean he is any less of a man. A man or woman is determined based on how kind, helpful and positive we are toward others, not what we eat, wear, sleep in, or how we act like outside of these pathetic gender roles created my society that something thought up as being the ONLY way. It simply doesn't work that way. Individuals are very complex living beings with mixed emotions, new developing feelings about ourselves and others, and our own need to be distinctive among others. In conclusion, open-mindedness and the ability to let change occur is not a punishment but a gift to express oneself and enjoy life on higher and newer levels. Judge not another and they won't judge you!

Now for all the men out there. Give it a try if you choose. Fear of rejection means you are dependent on what others think and want of you.

I am 39. I own running tights, tights, and leggings. I wear them for casual and workout wear. They support me great. It was about time they started expanding the wardrobe for us guys. In the colonial times men worn knickers and tights. This was worn as late as early 1900s. Around the prohibition era men were wearing this type of clothing. Women were wearing long dresses so didnt need leggings or tights or pantyhose. This didnt become fashionable until after 30's with prohibition. Then pantyhose were invented. Tights were called stockings when men worn them. Pro baseball teams: Bos Red Stockings, Chicago White Sox, were early teams that coverted to socks later. Early US history had men wearing stockings that is why the name is as such. Leggings became popular in the 1970s with outdoor sports such as skiing. This continued until 1990. Now with swimming they have taken to be used to aid swmimmers for improved performance. Brands like Nike, Reebok, Speedo and other companies have followed in this trend and have been profitable. Tights for men have became popular also. Calvin Klien and other clothing manufacturers have made product that will become common to wear this year. Also, men have worn tem with shorts for the past 2 years. So what is the big deal?

I have to agree with rsm! Everyone looks good in tights/leggings, and some people definately look GREAT.
Leggings/tights are simply very elegant, and highly practical to wear. I'm a carpenter, and also an avid bicyclist-and back in my younger days took dance classes, so I've been comfortable wearing leggings /tights for years.
It's a practical matter of comfort-and elegance.
Life can be so much simpler and easy-going when we accept ourselves and others just as we are-no strings attached, and personally I feel that the freedom to clothe ourselves as we want is THE most fundamental of human rights!
For my part, if one person says something positive, it's all good-otherwise--lots of love to you ALL!

hi, i have worn some womens pantyhose or tights for many years. nobody knows what you wear under the jeans and i like the feel! i have tryed the men's pantyhose from comfilon and didnt realy liked them as they to matte and wont slide under the pants cousing them to slide down. i am shure they will eventuly fix this, till then i by silky tights at wal mart. small tip, never wear underwear of any kind under them what will couse them to slide down. if you need to wear some with them, bikini briefs on top will do the trick and keep everything where it need to be. anyway, there are many guys like me out there that like to wear them, just being scared to get cought. i dont care what anybody thinks, i know better. and dont forget, tights were originaly made for men, and women don't even wear them anymore, so what's the big deal? it's underwear, not a dress or heels!

I posted before. This past Christmas I was at the mall and noticed a guy with his girlfriend. He plays basketball. He was wearing a jersey and shorts and white socks and basketball shoes. I was just walking past him and he seemed dark. I turned for a second and he was wearing black tights. IT didnt look bad. He was a young african american guy. I also saw someone going into the local electronics store and he was wearing leggings ( sports nylon tights) with basketball shorts and sandals. I thought I try it. I worn my Nike leggings to the mall. Did some shopping. No comments. I had my jacket on too. It looked like a running suit. I also worn nude and tan tights to the gym. A girl at the gym asked if I was wearing them. I mentioned I did. It was October to December. It has been cold. My legs were cramping from cold and the workout class. She bought some leggings and worn them last few times. Havent seen her since though. She lookeed good.

Hell yeah! I wear my hose all of the time and my wife does not care. Stop hating on the hose and let people do what they want to. We are stipulated from an early age at what is right from wrong. Maybe those stipulations need to be over looked, I mean we now have a black president.

I had a female flight attendant suggest I try support tights as I fly a lot and was having trouble with my legs after long flights. She said they really work and saw no reason for men to be afraid to wear them publicly. I got some, and they do indeed work, some are quite exceptional. They're just clothes, fer cryin out loud. I've also found compression tights to give additional endurance on cycling. I wish I had had the bollocks to try them 20 years ago. My gf was semi-supportive, but still fears the comments of others.

As long as they don't wear leggings on a daily basis, it shouldn't cause too much of a stir!
