The black birds roosting on every possible roof of this house are turkey vultures. We counted more than thirty. We heard that the owner bought this mansion in 2003 but no one has lived in it yet. I suppose that only some activity from someone living there will chase away the birds. Maybe someone is dead in there and the aroma through the roof is attracting carrion eaters.
