Fayette Panorama

I took pictures of the harbor at Fayette on Fayette Day and stitched them together using Hugin. This is the resulting panorama.

It was a beautiful day for it.

Here are some more pictures of Fayette.

Monster Truck on I95 in Delaware

Yesterday we were driving back home from Norristown down I476 to I95 when we spotted a unusually tall pickup truck in front of us.

It was a monster truck driving with us on the road.

It was driving next to us on I95 from Norristown to at least the Marsh road exit just south of the Delaware state line where we got off. This vehicle was just a little pickup truck on huge tires and a suspension to go with them. The tires and modifications made the vehicle literally twice as tall as our Prius.

We got a closeup of one of the tires.

Besides the silliness of seeing a monster truck on the road was the advertising on the side for Estep Electrical Services. You know the "owner" of the truck "uses" it for work and the expense of those crazy modifications were written off of their taxes.

NERD HUMOR is no more

Finally got a picture of the repainted railroad bridge over Rt 141 just south of Rt 52. This view is the view driving south. There used to be a giant NERD HUMOR graffiti on the bridge but it has been painted over by the graffiti brigade.

Bob Weiner, our New Castle County councilmember, got his wish and got it painted over. The article says that the owner of the bridge, East Penn Railroad Co., didn't have the money to repaint the bridge and that the materials and time were donated, that seems fishy to me. They are installing a fence to make it harder for someone to get out onto the bridge and graffiti it.

The owner should use the bridge for advertising. It is in a very visible spot and high traffic location, perhaps an electronic sign would make it easy to change the advertisements. I am just suggesting this to get Bob's goat, he is not to hip on advertising, especially electronic signs, or chickens.

It's clean now, how long will it stay that way?

Panorama of the Shellpot Creek

Last week while cleaning out some of the gutters for Spring, I took my camera with me up to the roof and took many photos of the Shellpot Creek from up the creek to down the creek. I used Hugin to stitch them together in a panorama and now you can look up and down the creek from the same vantage point as I did, click the photo for larger.

I suppose the best view of the Shellpot Creek is from the roof on that corner of the house. Maybe some day we will build a deck up there.

update: The twitpic version is larger. I guess Blogger compresses the size somewhat.

Slugs in the garden

Last night I noticed these giant slugs climbing the pots on porch. I am not sure I am comfortable with them getting closer to my height by climbing things.

Halfway up the pot.

A picture with slime trail with my hand in there for size.

This closeup also shows the slime trail, The ridges on the pot are nine to the inch so the length of this slug is about 3.2 inches not taking into account its curved posture (I guess it is not that big).

I am sure these guys are eating my vegetables and plants. We put ground-up eggshells under the tomatoes and Brussels sprouts for calcium and because the slugs don't like crawling over sharp objects. I was going to joke and call these Giant Leopard slugs, but in fact that is what they are, Limax maximus.

First light on a snow day

Today was not really a snow day as I am on vacation. However I tried to get the light shining through the trees because the snow stuck to all of the branches looked very nice.

Even a simple digital camera can do magic if the scene is right.
